We have great sorrow in announcing that our President, Derek McFaull passed away on August 4th 2008, may he rest in peace.
Derek McFaull was born in Calne, Wiltshire and first became interested in magic at the age of 11 when he was given a magic set.
He attended his first British Ring Convention in 1951 at Bournemouth and has been a regular attender since then.
In 1994 he took over the organising of the Hospital and Special Venue shows which have always been a popular feature of our Annual Conventions. A team of entertainers, under Derek’s direction, visit and entertain the patients in local hospitals and homes for the sick and elderly.
In 2000 Derek became the British Ring Chaplain, and in 2003 he took over as Chiel Welfare Officer, which having regard to the large membership was almost a full time occupation.
Derek was a member of The Magic Circle and also honoured to be Honorary Colonel in the Kentucky Army. He was a retired Church of England Minister, but still officiated as chaplain to various places/churches/organisations in UK on a part time basis.
