OPEN SESAME!
OPEN SESAME! The time-honoured password renowned for revealing something magical.
Similarly joining the British Ring is like saying 'Open Sesame' to the world's greatest magical organization - the International Brotherhood of Magicians. With over 300 Rings globally, some small, some large, they unite together nearly 13,000 magicians all of whom benefit from the experience.
Why 'Rings'? The founders wanted a mystic sounding name that would link the individual groups into an international fellowship. What better than 'Rings'?
The British Ring is proud to be by far the largest of all the rings. With nearly 2000 members it is held in esteem by the whole of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
ADVANTAGES OF RING MEMBERSHIP
There are many advantages by being a member of the British Ring.
- Members and their partners enjoy a reduced registration fee to the annual British Ring Convention, the premier event in the magical calendar
- Members are able to enter our Annual Competitions, held at our Convention, to win valuable cash prizes and trophies.
- Special Junior workshops are held at our Convention to encourage youngsters to take up our art as a hobby, or as a profession.
- A lively magazine, called the Budget keeps members in touch between conventions. It contains tricks, routines, articles, dealer adverts and even letters from members. The Budget is delivered to you every month, as part of your annual subscription.
- There is an extensive postal library service with access to around 3000 books, which range from out of print classics to the works of modem magical writers. Our Librarian is always available at the end of a phone to give advice.

- A unique facet of the British Ring is its vibrant and active Welfare Scheme and Benevolent Section liberally supported by the members. It is ever ready to assist those who are sick or in strained circumstances. A network of regional Welfare Officers throughout the country arrange visits to any member who is sick or hospitalised.
Candidates for membership in the British Ring must have had a sincere interest in the art of magic for at least two years prior to application (one year for Junior Membership). IBM members agree to abide by the Constitution and By-Laws of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and promise to never violate any part of "THE CODE OF ETHICS".
